What is tmt steel?

The term TMT stands for Thermo-Mechanical Treatment, a metallurgical process that combines mechanical deformation with thermal processes. The TMT steel has a hard outer surface and a softer core. These bars have more yield strength than Mild Steel. TMT steels are widely used in the constructing buildings and other concrete structures. These bars are used to reinforce the concrete. TMT steels also able to offers protection to a structure against earthquake and wind storms.

Advantages of using TMT steels:

• Resistant to earthquakes: TMT steels soft pearlite core makes tem resistant to earthquakes. They can bear seismic and dynamic loading. TMT steels tends to have high fatigue resistance to seismic loads because of high ductile nature and this widely used in zones prone to earthquakes.
